FIVE TIPS FOR AN UNFORGETTABLE WEBINAR

FIVE TIPS FOR AN UNFORGETTABLE WEBINAR

5 Min. Reading

Webinars are a fundamental marketing tool, even more so since the pandemic began because now we are spending more time in front of screens. As it happens with any other event, details can make the difference between a webinar where attendants feel as if they have lost their time or one they will remember for years to come. But what do you have to do to achieve an unforgettable webinar?

Indeed, practice makes perfect, so the more you participate in webinars, the better you will understand how to present your ideas to any audience. Meanwhile, here are five tips you should remember.

1. Great content is everything

People subscribed to your webinar because they are interested in the ideas you have to share with them, so planning the content is the place to start. Consider this:

  • Unless your webinar is for a super-specialized audience (a medicine symposium, for example), try to keep a balance between giving the audience context and sharing your most innovative ideas.  If you go only for innovation, some people might lose track of what you are talking about; if you go only for the general context, they will feel as if they lost their time.
  • Offer different types of content. For instance, find great videos you can share during your presentation to clarify a point or change the speech’s rhythm, or plan a game to play with the audience.
  • Keep it short. If you know there is no way to fit all your ideas in a one-hour window, then consider having several short sessions or making other resources available (like PDFs or podcasts) to make up for the content you couldn’t address.

2. Find a co-host or moderator that compliments you

Having another person sharing and bouncing off ideas with you in the webinar will make it more dynamic. Look for someone who compliments your style of thought and has a different personality since the contrast will give the webinar a better rhythm. Since you already planned excellent content, a dynamic conversation will help create memorable moments for your audience.

Remember, your audience wants to learn but also to have a great time while learning from you.

3. Set the best technical conditions you possibly can

While you may be transmitting from home (and we all understand that, after a year into the pandemic, that is no longer a problem for anyone), your audience will be thankful for a great video and audio quality. This means:

  • Get the best headphones and microphone you can
  •  Avoid backlighting
  • Get a hardwired internet connection, as any changes will affect the video and audio quality
  • Set a virtual background to avoid distracting the audience with whatever is behind you

4. Interact with the audience

Just as in in-person events, the audience will feel more interested if they can interact and respond to the input they are receiving. Use polls, surveys, and the chat for the audience to share questions. For a better experience, find a producer that can help you coordinate these interactions so that you can concentrate on the audience.

Interacting with the audience will keep them engaged and give you valuable feedback for your next webinar.

5. Make sure the audience returns to your content after the event

Whether through a newsletter where you share the webinar recording or by enabling additional contents (such as PDFs or the slides you used) in a platform like eBrightConnect, find a way to make your audience return to your webinar.

At the beginning and the end of the speech, mention that these resources will be available and send a friendly reminder for them to look them up.

If the audience returns to the webinar once the live version is over, you will know they are deeply interested in your work, and your speech was, indeed, unforgettable.
